Hackchi + Retroarch + Sega Genesis Mini

My apologies if this isn't the ideal thread for this post.
I was wondering if anyone had been playing around with the Genesis Classic + Hackchi ?

I've got everything setup, but I get a ton of ERROR F4: Shutdown and my system just reboots.
I wonder if it is my flash drive causing the issue (Phillips 32GB USB 3.0)

The biggest pain that I experience is that the emulators will just dump out to the game screen.
I had it set to hold START for 2 SECONDS to dump out, but sometimes just pressing PAUSE/START will cause the game to quit.
As will holding DOWN + C button.

I've tried to Google for help, even followed several tutorials during set up, none however covered this.

Any help would be appreciated.

It would appear as if ! Sadly 
I'm unsure if my issue is a Hackchi issue or a Retroarch issue to be honest.
I did some testing the other day.
I'm currently using the Sega Genesis classic/mini to play GENESIS, MASTER SYSTEM, and TG16 games.

I got everything set up to display in full/widescreen with scanlines (which is the desired effect I wanted).
Games will launch by pressing both "A" or "START."

My notes are @ home, so I'm going off memory here.
When playing Master System and TG16 simply pressing down on the stock gamepad dumps you to the game select menu.
I've still be unable to solve this issue. "START" will dump to the Retroarch menu which is fine, it's  the quitting the game that sucks !

Well there's your problem.....  digital Jesus is punishing you for being a heathen and playing 4:3 games in 16:9.  Seriously man do you even retro bro?

I do retro, I swear I do.
But when not on my CRT TV or arcade cabinets I just hate the black bars.
That I can easily fix (16:9 to 4x3) , however this dumping me out of games has been a more difficult issue.

Put two vases in front of the bars then.

Ok, I've fixed the widescreen issue !
With that said..........any help would be appreciated !
I've signed up on the Libretro forum, but unable to obtain any help yet.

I'm leaning towards going back to stock, then attempting Hackchi again.
