I think Ken may be feeling poorly at the moment (hope not, And feeling better)...Those connectors have like a insertion rate of something like 22 times, after that the plating gives out and they become quite unreliable, and given the age of the machine probibally towards the end of that cycle, replacing them would certainly not hurt, However you can do a continuity test through the connector. (Although if you wiggle it under test you will most likely get some pretty random readings)
