Custom mouse input for MAME Lightgun games
« on: January 06, 2020, 12:53:22 pm »
Hey guys,

I have been inspired by gtavccat's project here :http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,160807.0.html

I noticed that his system works great to track mouse movements but it doesn't work in MAME.

How can one go about allowing such a device to work in MAME?

The first thing that pops in my head is to use a virtual mouse driver, which takes in data from the lightgun/camera and outputs raw data which controls the windows mouse.

Do we have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I haven't messed with this yet, but just do what he said... use ppjoy.  Mame (unhacked anyway) can't handle fake mice, but it has no problems with fake joysticks.
