Photoplay CRT monitor Tatung --> degauss PTC info needed

Pages: (1/2) > >>

Anton:

Hello,

Managed to fix the CRT monitor chassis of a Photoplay cabinet.

- Recapped C614 (2.2uF 100V) C1 (220uF 25V) C106 C705 C720 C704 (100uF 35V and 50V) --> fuse still blew
- Changed the Flyback (the old one looked burned, deposits where on the heatsink next to it) --> fuse still blew
- Changed the faulty bridge rectifier  --> fuse still blew
- Took out the PTC --> monitor worked!!

But brightness control not working, need to replace Q807 / Q808 (2SA1015) because one of them tested NOK.

Now I have a working monitor with strange colors.

PTC id: NICHIAS 180N271 910. Cannot find any info, any ideas for a cheap replacement part?
Degauss coil reads 11 Ohm

Thanks,

Anton

Hi

To clear up the colors, you just can use a degaussing wand

Hello Mr/Mrs Molsen,

Thanks for your reply.

I know but I would rather have it degauss automatically like it did originally. Perhaps I will try to find an old PC CRT screen and see if I can pull a PTC out of it.
Still... suggestions are welcome.

Anton

Anton:

Hello,

Today I compared the PTC of the Tatung with the one from my WG monitor and except from the values they did not differ much. So I soldered the 'faulty' PTC in the Tatung chassis again and after powering up the degauss worked and the colors are perfect again. Seems I made a mistake....
