Skee-Ball Model S Restoration Complete
« on: December 29, 2019, 10:49:47 am »
      Model S  June 1990

This is a Model-S 13' alley I purchased that needed some serious TLC.

I decided to strip it down and completely restore it. When I took it all apart, the inside looked like a cat was living in it.  The end of the alley had a lot of water dame so in lieu of trying to splice it together, I decided to shorted it 2' which fit in my space better.

Since I finished it in October, it has been played over 1000 times.  It has been a big hit!  Everyone that comes over wants to play Skee-Ball.

      Condition when I got it
      • needed repainting
      • cork was shot, had been painted many times
      • score board did not work
      • wiring was a mess
      • water damage

      Upgrades:
      • new cork
      • LED score board from www.kahr.us
      • add 100 rings
      • added ticket dispenser

Next I plan to add some LED lights down the alley.

How are you scoring the 100 rings?  I didn't see the switches.  Are they on the backside of the scoring board?

The switches are under the ramps a made.  the switch arm/wire goes through a hole and is bent 90 degrees so the ball rolls over it.  The ball only has a narrow path between the back board and the play field.  It works perfectly.

One issue I had with scoring was sometimes either the 50 or 100 would not count all of the switches.  I figured out it was a timing issue.  I used a 1/2" x 5" felt strip and stuck it across the ball track between the 30&40 holes.  This was just enough to slow the ball down a little.  Now this machine score perfect every time.

Nice restoration.  Mind me asking what you paid for it originally?

Sorry I'm just seeing this.  I paid $450 for it.  It came with 2 CPU units.  I had both of them tested / repair by Bay-Tek, not cheap but worth it.

Super late to the party, but how did you add the ticket dispenser?

Also, how did you update your netting? Looking to replace mines as well :)

sorry for the late response, I'm not getting notified for some reason.

The wiring for the ticket dispenser was already there, I just had to add a brace for mounting.  I bought the cover for the tickets on eBay.  I have an extra one I would sell.

the netting I just soaked it to clean it then painted it with fabric paint from Lowe's
