Should I take this old TV for retro games?
Howard_Casto:
I thought I posted this last night... maybe I forgot to click the post button or something. My mom and step dad got a new tv, so all the tvs in their house got rearranged. One of the tvs was actually using another, ancient tv as a stand. It's a 25" Zenith, model# sj7504rk from late 1991. It has composite in only, not even s-video. I'd like to mod in a scart connector for rgb, but I don't know how possible that would be considering it's age. I absolutely don't have room for it... I'd have to store it over at grandma's but I'm thinking about the future.
So how hard do you guys think it'd be to mod and do you think it'd be worth the hassle of moving it in and storing it or should I hold out for a Trinitron or something?

I’d say this tv is better suited for arcade cabs than modding for RGB. Those old 25” console TVs have good candidates for tube swapping WG K7000’s. If you have a chance to see what tube is in there, it might be compatible and worth keeping it around. Especially if you have a k7000 with bad burn/failing guns.
Besides, these tubes didn’t have a high density of lines per scan, so even if you RGB modded it, you might not get a better image than a Trinitron.

Unless you have unlimited space or want to use for an arcade cabinet, I would pass. You can find a better console crt

We plugged it in.... it's dead... so I'm not even bothering.
