How do you use an Apac connected fixed gun with Alien Extermination?

Zebra:
 I have Aliens Extermination up and running on one of my Windows 7 machines but I don't have the official I/O board. I'd like to play it with my fixed guns through an Apac. I can see instructions to use a mouse but I can't find any info on setting up analog controls. Is there a way to use analog controls without going through one of those joystick to mouse programs?
