Possible solution: one button to shut down question
(1/2) > >>

Thanks to prior threads on this I was able to get 98 to shutdown with one press of button.  Now, working on my second cab computer, its an older Dell 400, I am certain it is a momentary button.   Runs Win98SE.  when I press the button it shuts off immediately, does not seem to go through windows shut down process like when I use the start button to shut down.  But, weird thing its when I start up again, I do not get an error message stating windows was shut down improperly and if I want to scan disk the hard drive.

Any suggestions?  Or is it okay?

Thanks,

check "power options" in your control panel, maybe there will be something there, but I haven't used 98 in like 2 years so I may be wrong on that ::)

On my 233 mhz mame comp the bios takes over and just shuts straight down and i cant change it, so i use mamewah to shutdown on exit

Check your power options in the bios, some computers support a clean shutdown others don't.

i checked both power options in bios and in control panel, couldn't get it figured out.

anyway I could program a button to send the correct keyboard commands to do a proper windows soft shut down (and what would they be)?

I note newest hagstrom encoder allow you to send a string of keyboard commands with one button press.

thanks,
