« on: November 08, 2019, 11:01:29 pm »
so after all the reading on the amp i took the dive into fixing my amp. remove amp and found the 2 fuses blown on one drive board so replaced the transistors and the fuses. plugged back in and let the smoke out of a couple resisters on the driver board. fuses did no blow. any help would be great thanks

Hello gmtransman2,

More than likely the two larger resistors were already overheated when the fuses and transistor failed.
Check these large fuses and other components on the board. If needs be obtain another driver board and recheck those transistors again, did you put the mica disks on the transistors when replacing them?

Bruce Wentworth at A & B Jukebox Repair sells the transistors. He specializes in Rowe jukeboxes.

those pre-driver boards are pretty cheap (i've sen them for about 30 bucks a piece.) they have been redesigned several times to improve performance and reliability over the last 30 some odd years.... if you can find some new ones, it is worth it to replace them.

the problem i was having is i bought cheap parts, i ordered 10 pair of transisters and out of the ten pair only two were good. so my problem was trusting new parts and fried my driver boards. put tested good ones in and both drivers boards and i have sound. rebuild two more all good. thank you all for the help.

i ordered 10 pair of transisters

10 pairs (properly matched pairs at that) would have cost you close to 200 bucks. that should be your first clue something is up. there are all kinds of fakes out there.
