Interference on Convex pushbutton when adding light

Hi, I started my first arcade machine, on retropie (raspberry 3). Bought set of buttons and js on ultracabs: https://www.ultracabs.co.uk/chrome-effect-illuminated-arcade-buttons-83-c.asp
After some configuration I got my JS, 14 buttons working on retropie. Works great. Now I added lights to my buttons (daisy chained like discussed here: )
As power supply I used an old adapter (5V 1000mA). I isolated both the positives as the negatives with tape

As soon as I plug-in the adapter, the buttons seem to be pushed. In random order, not all but most of them; even the joysticks seem to react. If I cut the powersupply, there is no interference.
I used jstest to see what happens, it is mostly on the button set of player 2 but not limited too.

Unfortunately my technical skills on electronics are very limited; Could the adapter somehow interfere because of too low voltage (btw all led lights actually light up)? Could the mounting of the switches in the buttons cause any problems? The switches are all plastic with 3 iron endpoints which are not touched in anyway by the daisychained light supply. I use the Xin Mo xm10 as a hup for the switches.

Hope my config and problem are clear. Any help (also on further diagnostics) is very much appreciated

PL1:
1. Are there any connections between the LED power supply daisy-chains and the Xin-Mo control wiring?  (They should be electrically separate.)

2. If there are no cross-connections between the LED power circuit and the Xin-Mo wiring, it sounds like your LED power supply is the problem.

Molex, SATA power, or modded USB cable are good alternate sources for 5v.
- Don't plug into an un-powered USB hub, they are only specced for 100mA ==> 5 LEDs.  (14 button LEDs = 280mA.)

Thnks for your response.
No they are definitely not connected in anyway to the buttons circuit (power, usb nor xin mo), that is the strange thing. I would think it is within (some of) the buttons, but I cannot seem to find how this would take place. So I let that be.
If you say it must be the adapter, what could be the case? The adapter (5v 1000mA), the raspberry power supply and my TV power are all connected to the same powerstrip.
So I will try another adapter perhpas that would work.
