Lightguns and LCD Marquee screen issues
« on: September 12, 2019, 03:47:30 pm »
Hi!
So I have a PC  build using a wiimote and dolphin bar and when it comes to shooting games (mostly MAME) whenever I shoot close to the edge of the main screen (depending on where the marquee screen is positioned in windows display settings) it minimizes my game. Took me a while to figure out why it was doing that but its because the mouse pointer thinks I want to access the marquee screen therefore, it minimizes the emulator. Has anyone had this issue or have a solution like keep the mouse pointer only within the emulator? Thank for any help!

So what is the marquee display screen you speak of?

Ok well I have never used 2 screens while using light guns before but I would assume this is occuring because you are taking focus away from the game screen by “clicking” on your marquee display.

In effect you need to lock it down so you cant have any input on the 2nd screen.

No idea how the hell you would do that though.

The easiest solution is to just set the cab to only use one monitor when playing light gun games.... this can be done in the mame.ini and via batch files for most video cards.

Barring that the solution is to not run your marquee as a secondary screen, instead using a pi or avr to drive it and use mamehooker to send serial commands to said avr/pi to change the image when appropriate.

Have you tried re-mapping the trigger so that the system doesn't think you are "clicking" on the marquee screen?
