USB Ports Changing
« on: August 21, 2019, 09:25:47 am »
As a newbie setting up a system, I apologize for the elementary questions, but appreciate the help  ;)

I am noticing that I am losing the input device configuration every time I go back into a title. Ie.  Arkanoid input was set for Mouse 2 and now it doesn't work and I have to reconfigure the controls, which now is detected as Mouse 3.  Similiar to Terminator..Gun4 no longer works and is now detected as Gun3

I'm running Windows as the operating system, so thinking something is up with that.

Thanks

Look in the light gun forum there are lots of threads on USB device ID’s changing.

You're on the right track.

Check out either the ControllerRemap application by drventure or the Tur application that Titch suggests here or mapdevice in MAME.

Ok, thanks!

Which tool would be suggested as the easiest to work with?

I use Tur but whichever works for you.

Scott, Maybe we should make a guide post for this and sticky it?

It seems to come up like every other week!
