A quick question on building the cabinet? ** Ignore - solved **

** Edit - just found this page: http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/Main_Page **
** Also found this build http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,135116.40.html with excellent instructions (albeit I'm not building a 4 player cab) **
** Apologies for being an idiot!!! **

I've only ever built two cabinets. One for an arcade machine and one for a fruit machine. In both cases I just ad-libbed and didn't have anything to go on for how to construct them. I did everything freehand with a jigsaw and just cut the two sides and then (basically) screwed them on to a frame of 2"x1" wood at the top and bottom. Then made a floor in it with some casters on and then screwed shelves and struts wherever I needed them. I didn't really worry about any planning - I just stuck stuff in as I needed it.

For my next cabinet (which I'm just building up the courage to start) I really want to do it "properly" (or as good as I can based on my lack of talent for woodworking).

I've looked through a few builds on this site but wondered if there was a specific post somewhere just talking about how to put the cabinet together? Or is it okay to use the same technique I did with the first cabinet (albeit - hopefully a lot neater as I've got a router on the way!).

Thanks for any guidance/help you can give.

:-)

Learning to rabbit is a good place to start with that new router, The back edge of the sides in particular, (still also using batons) the strength will be substatually jincreased...And it is a good place to practice (test on scraps) so you don't waste wood).

What does breeding rabbits have to do with cab construction?

I suppose those big feet could stamp out a welding fire.

The rabbits need somewhere to breed?

Thanks Jennifer. I've found a ton of extra info since I posted my question so I'm currently reading through and looking at some plans I've found. I'll definitely test the router on scrap before trying it on a real piece. I've never used one so I'm imagining some mistakes before I get the hang of. I've made a note of the number of fingers I have as of the 30th July 2019. I will recount again in a couple of weeks and see if the numbers tally.

Thanks for your wise words and help :-)

Mike.. you're just an idiot... but you have made me laugh on more than one occasion on these forums :-)
