Star Trek Picard: Hell yeah!
« on: July 20, 2019, 05:21:29 pm »

Listen.  I don't care that the inmates are running the asylum over at cbs… I don't care that sir Patrick looks 100 years old and he could croak at any moment.  I don't care that the discovery trend of needlessly updating effects that don't need updating seems to be in this series as well.  All I know is I saw Data, I saw 7 of 9, I saw Borg and Picard said "engage"  That's good enough for me, I'll take it.

It looks to me from the trailer that Picard left Star Fleet over Data's death and NOT the destruction of Romulus.  I'm glad because that makes much more sense emotionally speaking.  It also looks like Data will remain dead (which sucks) and the focus of the show is a love child of Data and the Borg Queen.  That explains the Data flashbacks, 7 of 9's appearance, the blue Borg cube, ect.  It's a tired old plot, but the casting should make up for it.  It could also be Spock's kid I guess, but I don't think that'd make as much sense based on what she said.

I can't say any better, but would be surprised if he just joins for a death scene.

I think so yeah.  I think he'll be heavily featured in the show, just not in the way you think.  That scene that they showed seemed like either a hallucination or a dream to me, similar to the "Picard Day" banner they showed from tng.  The line about not wanting it to end sounded to me like he realized it was a fantasy and didn't want to wake up.  Them playing poker was very reminiscent of the final scene of the final episode of the old show.

He looked de-aged in the scene as well, and that kind of stuff isn't cheap.... they have cbs all access money to work with, not marvel money.  Him sitting stationary or doing very little in a few well staged flashbacks would be doable, but I don't know if he could be a regular cast member just due to the expense.  Then again they cg'd in the stripes on the enterprise uniforms of discovery in a few episodes because they thought that'd be cheaper then just re-shooting the scenes, so what do I know.

Not sure how much he is de-aged vs smoothed with makeup, he cheeks look pretty puffy in that shot, but yeah, its hard to say with Data if he will be a pivotal character or anything from a dream to a hologram to color in backstory.

Surprised nothing yet from Michael Dorn. Dude has been begging to play Worf again for years.

I don't know... Spiner looks pretty rough these days...

As for Dorn he might be pissed that they picked up literally every idea for a Star Trek show out there EXCEPT for the one starring him that he's been pushing for the last 10 years.

Not surprised this project has been dubbed 'the Picard show', his character is the actual appeal, it's not even so much Star trek.

Picard; an archetype of the dad we all wanted to have ?

Did that at least work better than CGI-ing the moustache off of Henry Cavill?

I hope that isn't the case because it's pretty much the exact plot of Blade Runner 2049.

You couldn't even tell.  I only read about it after I watched the season.

Yeah but to be fair Blade Runner is one of the most over-rated sci-fi franchises in history and Star Trek is awesome.  Don't get me wrong, I like Blade Runner... as a single film... but that's all that it should have ever been.

You didn't know they were doing this? I barely trop around Youtube, and I saw the con bit early in the year or late last year where he talked about it.

No I've known about the series for eons... I didn't know if it had any hope of being good was the thing.  I see some concerns but there's enough in there to look forward to.

Looks good to me.  I don't know what else we can expect out of the franchise these days but I like seeing some of my favorite characters again.  Also, Jeri Ryan still looks GREAT.

I just want to see Q come back to eff with Picard and imply that this has been happening repeatedly over all these years, like some cosmic version of "What about Bob".

I love me some Q, but I doubt we'll see him.  He seems a bit light-hearted for the grim dark emo kurtzman-verse.

I still say Q needs his own spin-off.  He and his son jumping around the Trek multi-verse getting into trouble as he tries to teach him the ways of the Q.  It'd be like Quantum Leap if Sam was terrible at it.

He doesn't have to be. The whacky comedic Q that he was changed to after the first season was wiped away in All Good Things and he was back to being the sinister ---maternal-smurf--- he originally was.

I'm guessing you didn't see Voyager then.  … Also nobody wants to see a dark Q (Which honestly I don't think he ever was).  The fun Q is best.

I did google and found many working trailers. So, in the end, all is good.

Yeah it is... that's the cbs all access link.  If you are outside the US I can't help you as I'm not putting up 50 links to whichever service you get st picard on in your particular region.

Its going to be Soy Based.  Wont watch.

Same agenda pushing groups behind all of these horrible train-wreck re-arrangement Flops.

Even Patrick Stewart could not save this Swill.

For some fun, watch Doomcock on youtube.  He gets a lot of insider information, on the "Disasters" behind the scenes.

According to his sources... the recent test audience showings, revolted in utter disgust.  They have had to reshoot all sorts of
things, just to try to get it "passable".

They are already in a deep financial hole... due to the Ice cold rejection of SJW-Trek.   They could not even give away the
rights to it.   And all of the toys that have not been selling, from various SJW / Feminists series?   These companies are outright refusing
to make toys for these series.   When showed the designs for the ships in this series... the toy companies laugh, and said No way in hell.
I guess they were quite awful.  >_<  lol    They had to scramble to remake the ship designs... and not certain if they made anything
that was accepted for any deals.

The original SJW-Trek,  was sold.. I believe,  to Netflix or Amazon.  Either way... it was so poor in views, that they refused to buy
the next season(s)... even when they reduced the asking price to literal Peanuts.

People are sick of SJW Politics, Mary-Sue characters that have no depth, horrible acting, horrible boring plot hole filled stories, etc.
Sick of being Blamed, Shamed, and Scolded... by Angry NPC Radicals...  that have one of two facial expressions:  Rage / Contempt.

One has to laugh... at every attempt of these Nuts to take over each and every property...  Attach their Gender Swap, Race Swap, and
horrible production quality + non-human responses...   as they end up Spiraling into financial Ruins.   Yet, they keep Doubling Down...
even going so far as to attack the fanbases (new and old).   Its almost like they are trying to destroy all industry, to collapse
the Economy...  On purpose.   I mean... how else can one justify, in the Last Jedi... the Bombs "FALLING" in space?! >_<
Really?!  You know how many people that scene had to actually get the "OK",  to be made into reality?!!!!   And NOBODY contested it!?!?!?!

Until the Industry Exterminates the NPCs... these Psychopathic Narcissists wont see a Penny from my wallet.

Sorry Patrick.  Too bad you have to sell out for this Amateur Hour Toxic Garbage fest.  You are way above it.

I'll just politely note that Star Trek has pushed a progressive, what some might call "liberal" agenda from it's inception.  That is very much the point of the franchise existing.  When Star Trek is bad, it's usually because said agenda isn't being handled with the delicate kid gloves that are required to balance it out so that it isn't too preachy and yet gets it's point across.  In other words bad writing.... which kills any franchise.

This very well could be a train wreck, but the very fact that Sir Patrick is attached to it and actively working with show runners to make sure the script stays true to the classic characters gives me hope that it will at least be passable Trek.  Considering how bad Discovery can be at times anything better than it would be fun to watch at least.

ah okay, gotcha.  Well likely you and I wouldn't agree on a lot of political stuff, but hopefully if we were in a pub somewhere, we'd tip a pint and have a good conversation.  I really hope mankind can get back to more of that, and less of the divisiveness.  I would be sure not to drink out of my crowder cup, and would ask that you not bring your CNN glass, and I think we'd be good.

It has nothing to do with right or left. It is extremism that is the problem.

I don't discuss politics with people because there are a lot of nut jobs like him who talk about exterminating people.

Okey doke.  Well I don't want to exterminate anything except spiders, and that would likely be bad for the environment, so I more or less like to focus on things I can actually change, like my diet, my outlook, my underwear...and leave the rest of the planet to sort of work itself out.  Cheers.

Oh and rabbits.  Man I don't like rabbits.  World would be a better place without them, but again, what would the foxes and badgers eat?

See. We would get along just fine. Those ---smurfin---' rabbits are up to something. I just know it.
