I'll just politely note that Star Trek has pushed a progressive, what some might call "liberal" agenda from it's inception. That is very much the point of the franchise existing. When Star Trek is bad, it's usually because said agenda isn't being handled with the delicate kid gloves that are required to balance it out so that it isn't too preachy and yet gets it's point across. In other words bad writing.... which kills any franchise. This very well could be a train wreck, but the very fact that Sir Patrick is attached to it and actively working with show runners to make sure the script stays true to the classic characters gives me hope that it will at least be passable Trek. Considering how bad Discovery can be at times anything better than it would be fun to watch at least. |
