Megatouch Ion Aurora i/o board issues
« on: June 23, 2019, 12:04:34 pm »
Hello,

I just buy a non working Ion Aurora 2008 with dead motherboard...
I try to put a old motherboard on it, I got it to power up and it goes through the boot sequence and gets to a graphical screen where it says "fatal error: cannot access i/o board" and goes no further. When looking at the IO board when powered on I see four red led light lit.
i can't found where this connector was pluggled:

Do you think it could be this connector, wrong random motherboard or anything else?

Thanks

connector is for bill/coin acceptor (depends on your region) it does not need to be plugged to anything.

if you replace the montherboard, you must use exact same model replacement as original, or one we have mentioned here before (D945 models) just random motherboard will not work.

Thank for answer, do you think D945 will work with the 2008 software? I have read it was for post 2008 version.

nope. you need ASUS for 2009 and below. And if i am not mistaken, you will need the official ASUS because the non official ASUS that does work, wont fit correctly in an Aurora.

What year will the Intel work with? I Think it is  2009? or is it 2010 and up?
This site is a pain to use, I like the other one better.

2009 wont work with the Intel. Only the very last 2009.5 version works with the intel. There is at least 3 2009 versions that do not work with intel. I don't remember the version # that works.

No. that board is an NFORCE2 board. the original (K8N-VM) is a geforce 6100 series. It wont even fit in the case. that one is ATX sized (12 x 9.6), the original is micro-ATX (9.6 x 7.6 inches)

literally... becasue of the drivers in the software being limited to the hardware they ran.... the only boards that are going to work in that aurora are the K8N-VM which is the original board... and depending on what vesion software you are running, (2009.5 or higher) you can swap for the Intel D945GCL and Intel D945GCLF2 boards and either will work. (2009.5 is the year they added driver support for the intel boards)

sorry, but no other boards are going to work.

Just a heads up. There is a few revisions of vga cable for Aurora's. Obviously the WS Aurora was meant to use the intel mobo, but i have had a few standard aurora's where the vga cable did not like the intel mobo. I ended up having to put another Asus mobo in those Aurora's. If you do get a intel mobo, pray you dont have one of these incompatible vga cables.

No luck... I found this motherboard:
https://www.asrock.com/MB/NVIDIA/K8NF4G-SATA2/
Same chipset and cheap, what you do think?

Aside from the fact the software is most likely going to give you a wrong motherboard error, the placement of the atx power connector, and the 4 pin power connector are going to make it impossible to fit in there.

I sell used (repaired) and NEW Asus (official merit) Motherboards. Just throwing that out there if you are having trouble finding one.

As I said on the other site https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-D945GCLF2D-Atom-330-945GC-Mini-ITX-Motherboard-2GB-DDR2-800/264356478495 will work with your game, and it is only $26 with free shipping. Not my listing but they only have one left now, when I posted it originaly they had 5.
You just need 2009.5 or newer. You would want to upgrade for the new games anyway.
