I say wait to cancel. American Airlines advised me that I don't need to cancel till 72 hours before the flight. So if there is an government ban on travel, there's a good chance airlines are going to dish out refunds.

Now Southwest says all cancellations made now mean credit is good through June 30, 2021. So at least the deal is getting better.

In the bright side, now I can go to Grinkers in the fall... Heh.

My only question: How do I get my hands on a Zapcon 8 Tee shirt with the Centipede logo on it? Those look bad ass. Yots, hook me up...

The shirts never got run, since they produce them two weeks before the show. Once things get back to normal, we may run them as a fund raiser. I’ll let you know if it happens.

I hate that this had to be cancelled. I wasnt going to be able to make it this year anyway, but Im sorry you guys cant go and have some fun.

Well, I just used my zapcon money debit card to buy a case of industrial toilet paper from Office Depot.

It only took five emails to the AirBnB host, an hour and fifteen minutes on hold to AirBnB and a week for everything to reply/process but I got my deposit back.

That should help me pay my emergency trip to the local cider bar to stock up.

Stay safe and healthy, the rest of the deposit is already going to next year’s hospitality supplies. Now I have more time to plan and stock up.

I cancelled my Delta Hotels reservation 2 weeks ago and they said I would get a refund. Is it too early to expect that to have happened?

Ok I called the hotel and got an update. First the lady said they had refunded me on March 17th but I said its not showing up on my bank records. She assured me it had been refunded so I said can you prove it. She said sure I'll send you and email with the refund info. Then I get this email:

Good morning Mr. Jones,
After looking at your printed folio I see that when the reservation was cancelled they hit the keep button instead of the refund, my sincerest apologies! I have attached that folio for you to see and I will be refunding your card today and sending an updated folio for you. You will see that by 3pm today. Thank you for your patience!

Southwest has updated their policy so that ticket cancellations now result in a credit that expires in September 2022.

Figured that was as good as I was gonna get, so I went ahead and cancelled.

Southwest now allowing you to convert "travel funds" to rapid rewards points. More flexibility and no expiration. If you got ---fouled up beyond all recognition--- out of $400 like I did it may be worth a look. Apparently cannot be used on taxes, but you can use it on tickets for other people. And I guess they have some rinky dink "store" where you can get pennies on the dollar in value, just in case you want to relive those ticket redemption days.
