Why is forum software frequently cutting my paragraph breaks?
Mr. Peabody:
I have to modify, and often shift-enter to be sure. What gives?

Two Carriage Returns (enter twice) or two Line Feeds (shift-enter twice) works fine for putting a blank line between separate paragraphs or chunks of text like in this post, or are you talking about something else?
Are you expecting auto-indenting on the first line of each paragraph and a gap with no blank line between paragraphs? :dunno
- That type of auto-formatting is often found in word-processors, but AFAIK is not available in any forum software.
What keystroke(s) are you trying to use for paragraph breaks?
Are you typing on a keyboard or are you using tapatalk?

Mr. Peabody:
Keyboard, wired. I enter twice to paragraph. Press 'post' and often it will clip the space between the lines. Modifying and pressing enter to re-make the space will often get clipped again on 'post'. Have to modify and shift-enter.
PL1:
I don't know why the forum is doing that to your posts. :dunno
The oddest part is that it doesn't do it consistently. If the forum software rejects/clips the ASCII keycode for enter (13), it seems like it would do that every time. :banghead:
For further troubleshooting, the only things that I can think of are:
1. Try posting with shift-enters. (Line Feeds)
- Might be the easiest workaround.
2. Try a different keyboard.
- Your current keyboard may be sending some unusual/spurious keycodes or modifiers.
-- Enter is 13
-- Left-shift is 160
-- Right-shift is 161
- You can view and compare keycodes using a keyboard test program like this one that Jon wrote for KADE. Related thread here.
(If the links in that thread don't work, change the link URL from kadevice.com to kadevice.net)

Mr. Peabody:
All the codes are correct, with no drops. I don't know.
