Rush mame speedhack help
« on: March 24, 2019, 08:31:22 pm »
So I got the mame feedback running but I have to go into analog controls every time and change the framerate when i start the game.

Is there a way through .cfg or command line arguments to get the refresh rate to kick up to 120 automatically?

I tried

mame.exe sfrushrk.zip -resolution 640x480[@120.386]

but it didnt work :(  if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong id appreciate it.
Thanks BYOAC!

i am reading stuff about maybe using a savestate to handle this?

I know how to make a savestate, but is there a trick to have it auto-load when running a game?   I am ONLY worried about running SFrush on this instance - so I'm ok with a bat file that calls mame.exe with arguments, or a global savestate-auto-load setting.

That's my hacked MAME version. I'm probably going to start working on another version soon where you won't need to change any settings to have 120hz or (60fps), also it might have one or two other minor bugs fixed.

That would be amazing thank you!!  Do you use the FFB plugin? If so, any idea what sort of ffbpulse time I should be aiming for?

I wouldn't mind giving this custom MAME 0.199 build a try, but the zippyshare download link in the other thread seems to no longer work. Would anyone mind re-uploading and sharing please? Thanks!

I haven't played the game in maybe 6 months, so I can't really remember my FFB settings. I checked and I didn't see any setting called "ffbpulse" in the config file either, maybe I'm using an older version.

I checked it and the "original link" (600mhz) still works.

Im sorry it's "feedback length" the value that controls feedback pulse time before reading and changing to the next feedback input

Derp, so this was one of those things I kept meaning to go back to, and I've realised now that the working link I downloaded was for Boomslang's FFB plugin and not the custom MAME build itself. None of the zippyshare download links in the other thread work at all now, soooo... would someone mind re-uploading a version of it here? Many thanks!

Thanks man, but that link doesn't work for me either, I get a '403 Forbidden' message with it.

Here's a new version (MAME 0.209) that has the refresh rate slider hack.

https://www115.zippyshare.com/v/mXxU1Xff/file.html

In the future I want to have the refresh rate switch to 120hz automatically whenever a Rush game is loaded.

Rush 2049 60fps video...

I still can't access it unfortunately. I did a little bit of Google searching and apparently Zippyshare is blocking UK visitors for some unknown reason  :dizzy:

Is there any chance you could stick that version of MAME on something like Google Drive or Mega instead please? Cheers!

Oh man, after all that, changing the refresh rate to 120 FPS didn't make any difference to the speed for me. I wonder if my ageing i5 just isn't up to it.

Also, I just could not get the pedals to behave with my DFGT in Rush 2049 either. I'm used to the business with MAME and wheels where you've got to keep your pedals semi-depressed when configuring the buttons and axes to stop stuff always registering as 'on' and everything looked like it was assigning the right way in the config, but the gas just wouldn't work in the actual game even though it was getting me through the menus with the car and course selections. Very odd. Eventually after much messing around I managed to get the gas to work, but only if I assigned no axis to the brake and kept it assigned to a button.  :banghead:

Mini edit: I know that this is probably an issue to do with combined Vs separate axis. It's weird though, I've never had to change any of the settings in the Logitech profiler for a game before. I had a quick glance at the profiler settings and the option to separate the axis wasn't jumping out at me. I suspect I probably am just being a bit blind, but can anyone tell me where to find it? Thanks.
