GM: 480i games switching to 240p
« on: March 17, 2019, 10:42:33 am »
Hello,
Groovymame is setting an 240p resolution to Street Fighter EX Plus and other games which have 640x480 as native resolution.
I have set 2560x0 resolution in mame.ini and also have instaled 2560x480 modeline with vmmaker.
So, am I missing anything or this is the expected behaviour?
Thanks, guys.

I'm having the exact opposite problem. I'm trying to setup a vertical cab and all my games are running at 496i and not 240p

The pcb only sets 640x480 instantly during boot. After that it switches to 512x240. GM just does what the emulee demands.

Are there any arcade games that are natively 480i besides 480p games with an SD option like Time Crisis?

Tekken 3, Soul Edge and Soul Calibur for sure. They can switch between 480i and 240p.
On a scale of fakeness, from more genuine to more fake, we'd have:

1.- Plastic plants (cf. Fake Plastic Trees)
2.- Inflatable dolls
3.- Arcade cabinets with LCD monitors

Quite a few, actually, especially if you don't discard those alternating interlaced with progressive modes. Check ST-V games -- Columns 97, Astra Super Stars, Cotton series, Decathlete... And also the old Midway pieces --  Spy Hunter, Zwackery, Xenophobe, as well as Nintendo's Popeye, etc.

Anyway, I'm of the opinion that interlaced graphics are anything but "native".
