Spectator monitor help!
« on: February 13, 2019, 10:37:16 am »
Hello Guys
I plan to run both modded rgb tvs in a single ati 5450, today using it with sinlgle regular vga port works perfect, want to use the dvi output port with and vga adapter to just clone the screen on the other tv set to became a nice spectator monitor up on the cab.
Intend to run both output identical, tried to clone the desktop but didnt work.
Using windows 7 + Crt_Emudriver + Ati 5450
Any help will be very apreciated.
Thanks
Marcos

What exactly didn't work? What happened?

Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Hello Calamity
Thank you so much for your help!
Let me try to resume to you what i did, just a note this is a patched 5450 with 15khz

1) First i boot with normal vga port with rgb modded tv
2) Them i turn on Teamviewer
3) Pluged the secondary rgb modded tv on dvi (vga adapater) tv was scramble
4) on notebook acess the computer remotely and start Vmmaker, assigned arcade15 for the non work tv.
5) them on Windows 7 desktop chosse to clone both output
6) Windows enviroment works perfect with both tvs

Now is the problem.
On first attemp ran Advmenuplus i like it workss windowed (strange), them running GM it works but kind no swithres working, like it was working with desktop resolution (640x480).
So i booted the system.

Again windows enviroment worked great, on second attemp, advmenuplus and gm worked normaly with correct resolution as it should but only on dvi port.
Vga output is black without any content, but when goes back to windows both displays working normaly.

That is where i´m stuck.
Maybe need to use that marquee solution force the vga port, display the content of the dvi ?

Any suggestion will be very apreciated.
Thanks a lot
Marcos

Ok I see. Cloning won't work for full screen apps, it seems. Instead, just extend desktop normally, without cloning. Then set -numscreens 2 in mame.ini, and see if it does what you want. As for AdvMenu, I don't know if you can do the same thing.

Hello Calamity
Thanks again for your support !
I did what you suggest, adjust the desktop to extend, and modifiy mame.ini to numscreens 2
But GM abort with a error "Error process exited with status 3."
Just a note i´m stuck with Beta 10, because i preferer more the flickering filter for interlace resolutions, that future versions doesnt have anymore.
And gmame 0.192b,  will try do same test with 0205b.
But for now doesnt work unfortunely.
Any other idea ?

Thanks
Marcos

Hello Calamity
Just an update, i tried to use a hardware solution with a simple Y vga cable split, it works but generate lots of noise and interfence on signal.
So this is completely discard.
We have to figure out a solution with CRt_Emudriver + GM indeed.
Any other idea?

Thanks
Marcos

The solution is the one I already posted above. It works here. You need to figure out why it fails on your system, probably it's a configuration issue. Impossible to tell without logs.

Hello Calamity
Wow, worked for you!
But you did some special config on screen, screen0 ? like force them both \\.\DISPLAY1 ?
How about swithres worked normaly on both screen simultaneous ?

Thanks
Marcos

If you force both outputs to \\.\DISPLAY1 it won't work. Say you have 2 outputs, named \\.\DISPLAY1 and \\.\DISPLAY2 (you have to check this is the case), then set:

screen0   \\.\DISPLAY1
screen1   \\.\DISPLAY2

Switchres only operates on screen0.
