Oooohhh kitchen renovation... that's the next "major" project on our list. How did that go? We can't decide if we want to knock down walls and relocate water and gas lines like crazy people or just get new cabinets, appliances and countertops and call it a day. We are leaning towards craziness only because my kitchen takes up 1/4 of the first floor yet there isn't enough room for a table so there's a lot of wasted space in the middle of the room (and not nearly enough for an island). Seems expensive though!
It went really well!
Our home was built in the 60’s, and the kitchen needed a full reno.
We actually did end up moving water and gas lines, like crazy people. Moving the stove placement also came with ventilation relocation, closing a doorway to gain some floor space which we put the fridge in, And that increased counter space. The laundry closet had a full-sized washer/dryer, so we divided that closet in half and installed a stacked washer/dryer, further gaining more counter space. In case you’re wondering, our garage is unfortunately not attached to the house, so that’s why the laundry was installed next to the kitchen originally.
We installed new cabinets w/ the soft closing hundred, new appliances, and a bigger (farmhouse) sink. Recess lighting...even converted that weird pantry cabinet on the right to a "coffee counter".
Overall it took about 1 month for the whole project. It wasn’t cheap
We’re really chuffed with it now, it’s new and modern and spacious. We *might* look into getting an island later, but I kinda like the openness of it now.
