Graboid....does it exist ?
« on: July 07, 2012, 11:18:46 pm »
Watching Tremors 3 and saw this Arcade game. Wonder if there is an actual Game out there (like others "Space Paranoids,  Fix It Felix etc...).

looks like a  painted Galaga/Pac and just in the movie to go with the theme.

better question, why are you watching Tremors 3?
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Tremors and Tremors 4 are better IMHO. The show wasn't half bad either. I could've done without the Ass Blasters or the Screechers but it does stay with the toungue-in-cheek humor that is the heart of the original.

@OP: As far as I know, no. There was one in the tubes about ten years ago. I don't recall if the planned game was the one intended to be in the film, never bothered to pursue it. IIRC, they never actually show the game onscreen so it's anybodies guess as to what the gameplay may have been like.

When I went on a quest to learn more about the J-Series truck in the film I came across a few fan made games of their take on the Graboids game. Nearly every one I found were/are moused based shooters and IMHO, they suck. I couldn't find any of the original crap game from that search (all my bookmarks are 404 now) but this one plays almost identical (might even be the same game with a different intro)
http://www.purely-games.com/dirt_dragons.html

There's also a crap side scroller (the Graboids jump, lame  ::) ) with an obvious loose tie-in to the film.

Ummm, the Graboids in Tremors don't jump out of the ground.

If anything, those are more like the Sand Worms from BJ.

And why in the world do iOS app developers absolutely insist on using virtual joysticks? WTF is wrong with these people?

Because its more responsive and precise than tilting. Also, check the options for tilt control. Really, why complain when you're at least given the choice?
NO MORE!!

I wasn't even considering the tilt as part of that equation.

Developers are practically handed a "new"  interface with 100% platform penetration and what do these developers do? Create a virtual joystick model. For some games, that's just downright stupid.

Interesting enough, the arcade cabinet changes from Tremors 2 to Tremors 3.

I think any random member here could have done a better job with that side art than the prop department of either of those films.

I dunno, if a random member from here made the side art, I’d half expect to see Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Dirk the Daring, Space Invader ships, the Galaga ship, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ken and Ryu......

Don’t forget flying Mario from super Mario galaxy.  Ryu also has to be brooding or gtfo.

And Link... he's never been featured in an arcade game, but I'll be damned if people don't understand that I like TLOZ.

Sorry, I missed that! I was too busy revising the marquee to read “Graboid Arcade”......

There would have to be a ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- ton of leds and it would have to be 70 percent complete.
