RGB to VGA adapters with light gun games - Help/Advice
« on: January 23, 2019, 12:17:40 pm »
I have a buddy of mine with 3 cabinets....2 Big Buck Hunter, 1 Golden Tee.
All of which have CRT monitors that are pooched!
Sadly here in Toronto (or East of Toronto in the Durham region) these
25" CRT arcade monitors are (A) costly, and (B) not easy to come across.

I suggested for the Golden Tee that he simply pick up an inexpensive RGB to VGA
adapter, such as the ones found on Ebay. He (like myself) is by no means a purist,
and I think this is the easiest, most cost effective repair.

When it comes to the Big Bucks I reached out a buddy locally who USED to do these
repairs, but he is out of the repair business.

I was wondering, if he purchased 2 more of these RGB to VGA monitors, and used old
CRT PC monitors would they still work alongside the light guns ?

If the monitor problems are chassis related, there are people over at KLOV that will fix them if you don't want to attempt the repairs. Just pull the chassis and ship them out for repair. It might be cheaper than what you are proposing.

From my past experience it hasn't been worth shipping it to the states.
When you factor in the repair, plus return shipping.
I think he is looking for a quick, easy fix....or as easy as possible.
Should it work where he can use the PC CRT monitors, should he ever have an issue he can simply look locally via Craigslist and swap em out !
