Testing RTSS Scanline Sync on groovymame 0.205
« on: January 19, 2019, 10:03:28 am »
Hello, my name is Nano, then I will show you how to use the new feature of the RTSS software, the idea is to use this alternative method of V-Sync which practically does not generate imput lag, my setup is as follows:

A-10 7850k
8gb RAM DDR3
1tb disk
windows 10 (without activation) xD
Groovymame 0.205
TV sony trinitron 29 "
converter scart to component video
Razer atrox controller

I leave this video that uploaded to youtube, in the first run you can see the terring image that generates without V-Sync in the upper part of the trees, in the second run it disappears completely without generating any type of imput lag.

Hi NaNo1982,

This vsync method is very interesting indeed, as a proof of concept: handling vsync externally to the rendering engine.

With regards to GM, it won't add any benefit latency-wise, and I'll probably be a little worse since it doesn't allow positioning input polling with respect to the raster, like frame delay does.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Undoubtedly the best is the option of frame_delay, but it is a quite demanding option especially for PC with integrated graphics cards. It is not a definitive option, but it was worth trying, thanks for clarifying, regards!  :afro:
