“Hugh was standing on his deck in a skimpy, little bathing suit, disappointed look on his face.”

“I'm s- wait. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Skimpy? I'm sorry -standing on his what?”

“On his deck. Of the boat.”

Of course the protector went around the buttons. Under would mean taking things apart.

Well what kills me is the NEW wave still does this.  I can get them not wanting end users to take things apart, but you are telling me they couldn't put the new ones on properly at the plant?

The protector is probably from a different, other-region vendor.

To pro-deckt it. Yah.

so what, they have deck protectors you can order with replacement artwork.
they are now including them with the new consoles.

So what? Deck protectors? Consoles? You make no sense. If you think you are promoting these turd cabs in a positive light, you are not.

Some news about the wave 2 hardware:

This is from BerryBerry

The boards do have the UART Tx pins, so you can view the boot process.
Information about the board.

it pauses for one second during boot (should allow us to stop during U-Boot),
it uses a much newer U-Boot version (that should allow USB booting, IIRC), and appears to be based on the Orange Pi One board.

I care. :)

I actually got the MKII cabinet for my kids. I got rid of my MKII and always missed it. This isn’t 100% the same but is pretty good. The button layout is important but I always use a SF layout for my Mame cab.

well, i just got delivery notice on my countercade:
ESTIMATED DELIVERY
Thursday
MAY

Just Shipped
Tracking details will be available once the package arrives at the UPS facility. Please check back soon!
===========

so i'll be posting my own impressions of the dig dug one soon enough.

it's the only legal way to play dig dug 2 with arcade like controls,
barring buying the PCB, and it's exclusive to this release

(and no the tv plug and plays don't count, or any of the illegal pandora's boxes or clones.)

dig dug 2 was a conversion kit, and never appeared in any arcade i've ever seen, and not even in japan
as a dedicated cabinet.

it was the same hardware as super pac-man and mappy, and one person has posted a homemade conversion
of it, but its rather scarce.

much like the pac-man, which has pac n pal, and that's another exclusive thats rarely ever seen outside conversion kits.

-------------------------

anyways, i'll be modding my countercade (bartop for those that get confused easily), and posting more
technical information once it's available.

retroralph has already modded his with a 60-1, but i'm not going to do it in that manner.

there is probably a way to natively log into the board, and run other programs, and not just the MOO emulator.

Well if there was a way to block it from showing up in the Unread Posts I'd quit looking.  So I guess the only way to react is post a random video every time it shows up.

And I haven't tried the blocking feature but I assume it's like all the other forums where you can't truly make someone invisible.  Facebook excels in that area.  Block someone they don't see you and you don't see them.  Another forum I was in you could block someone but then they still see all your posts and can reply and then all the forum does is hide the post content with a message that might as well say "Click here to see what this butt hole said about you".

It's bad enough that he spams every useless tidbit about A1Up that he finds but he also structures his posts to take up as much vertical space as possible. This ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- is so obnoxious.

Please move this to the dedicated A1Up forum.

In all seriousness, what's the thoughts on the form factor of the bartops? I'm a little turned off by the 8" screen. I've almost always skipped the bezel art on my builds so I could use a larger screen. The actual form factor appears fine. We accept less authenticity on bartops it seems.

I can't comment on build quality, but I assume it's the same dolls/camlock type construction. I'm ho-hum on the price. Seems kind of high for a game or two, but I remember the ION icades costing like $100, and you had to add your own ipad. The bartop kits cost around $150, so for a few more bucks you potentially get a screen, controls, and artwork.

I won't be a customer for one of these simply because there is nothing left for me to play that I can't play with my current setup (which is already getting neglected).

I won't be a customer for one of these simply because there is nothing left for me to play that I can't play with my current setup (which is already getting neglected).

So you're not going to buy a palette of these?  >:D

If it was priced right....

if the bartop had the same sized screen as the "big one" I might see myself picking up the one that has crystal castles on it, but 8" is a deal breaker.

I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Also $449 for the MK cab!?!  This whole thing stops making sense when the prices of the toy cabinets are approaching what you can get the actual cabinets for.

It never made sense. It's all a senseless cash-grab.
