Black Start Buttons - NOW IN!
« on: February 09, 2004, 11:47:58 am »
Just received the shipment of the black start buttons.  Expect me to be contacting the pre-order people shortly.

Edit: Some of you did not indicate your country of origin.  So if you're outside the US and I say that your shipping is $3.85 (standard US Prioity Mail shipping) then your shipping costs will be more.

Edit: Regarding payment.  Check, Money Order and PayPal are okay, BUT: NO PayPal accounts funded with a credit card.  I only have a personal account.  This includes if you have a 'debit' card that pulls funds from your checking account.  If it has a Visa or MasterCard logo on it, it counts as a credit card!

As an added suprise, they are all concave!  I had expected convex, as that was the fabs that were sent to me.

Hopefully that player 1 button isn't representative of the lot of them.  The guy's legs didn't come out very well.

No, that was my doing.  I doing a test to see how durable it was.  I rubbed it with my finger for a bit, tried my fingernail, and marred it with a screwdriver.  Since I doubt anyone will be taking a screwdriver to their buttons, you should be fine.

I would have taken a better picture, but I've been having problems with my camera.

Got any plans on what the procedure will be for those that didnt do the pre-order(yea, I missed it) or should I just keep my eyes open in the b/s/t forum? I'm definitely interested in a 1 & 2, but Ill keep the details till I see a general sale announced

Keep your eyes peeled.  As with any pre-order, there will be people that don't follow thru.  As I just got these today, it will be a little bit before I know who those people are.

Oh, one more thing: If you're going to send me money via PayPal, indicate WHO you are if sending from a business account.  I had someone earlier send me funds from a business account.  It didn't correspond to any of the names on the list of people I have.  Nor did they indicate what they ordered, other than 'this is for the buttons, thanks.'

This is obviously not directed at you, Brad, but a note to all.

They look great, Peale!  I also am glad they turned out to be concave, that would have been my first choice anyway.

I haven't gotten my total from you yet, but I will send you the $$ as soon as you let me know.  Thanks!

The black start buttons look great, Peale!  I replaced the white ones on my Guerrilla War cab because they were faded and the little guys were worn off.  The black ones match the cp artwork much better than the white ones ever did!  I bet there are many original cabs that would look better with black start buttons than white ones, just because of the cp artwork.  Thanks again!

Hey Peale,

Maybe i'm blind but i don't see anything in your first msg in this thread mentioning ppl who did pre-order. I'd like to get 1 of each button if i can. Let me know if you have any extra.

Oscar: They look great!  You're welcome.

egomaniacal1: was that supposed to read 'did' or 'didn't' preorder?  The way it is now it doesn't make much sense.

I'm waiting for everyone that did preorder to follow thru on their sets, then we'll work on the 'extras'

DARRYLICSHON: I may be able to do that, let me count what's remaining.

There were twenty-four people who pre-ordered buttons.  I have now sent mail to all.  Of those, twelve orders have been sent, and I expect another two payments via snail mail either Monday or Tuesday.

This leaves ten pre-orders that have not contacted me.  So this is what I'm going to do: If all pre-orders have not been claimed by February 29th (two weeks from today) then they will go out on a first come, first serve basis.

Here are a couple of pics of my black start buttons on 2 of my 3 swappable panels. Notice the CP wood has not yet been painted. And my bezel still desperately needs it's cabinet instructions. If you're curious, my construction process was basically the same as the multi-williams  CP on here, with the recessed dust cover routing, t-nuts, and all that.

But this thread is all about the buttons, so marvel at their blackness. :)

This one is my "tron" panel:

I agree, I think those buttons add a beautiful touch to the panels, especially if black is somehow part of the color scheme. I also love that you never see them on many other machines. :) In person, they're slick. I really dig 'em.

Peale, thanks for doing all the legwork and making this happen. Someone's gonna see this and start mass producing them. Definitely one of the freshest new add ons, trivial being start buttons or not, that I've seen since I've been on here.

Mine showed up today, and I have no words for how awesome they are!  They should stay limited edition so that only an elite few of us have them :)  Whoever didn't follow up on the pre-order is really missing out, no question, and if you end up having leftovers, let me know I might just pick up another set just to have them around.

If I gave Mamey's for effort, you'd be top winner!!!

Cheers Peale, made my day.

Yeah, yeah...now how about a picture of the buttons on one of those awful cabinets of yours?

(ps - for anyone that doesn't know, I give Zakk crap about his cabinets in an effort to make me feel better about not having a workshop to build my own.  Therefore, any cabinet that Zakk works on automatically sucks, no matter how hard it rocks.)

I keep getting people asking me to be placed on my 'list' of extra buttons.

There is no list.  If I did it would be very, very long.

When it comes time for the 'extras' I will let everyone know when and how they will be sold.

I have to agree. Go with e-bay. For what you had to go through to get them, you sold them to us for a VERY good price. And if you didn't pre-order them, you didn't pre-order them. I missed out on the red fully insulated quick disconnects by about 5 days. It sucks, but sometimes you miss the boat. And if you want them, go to ebay and bid on them.

Peale deserves to make a few extra bucks for all the work, communication, hounding phone calls, etc. to do this. And if he HAD a few extra bucks that he hadn't counted on making off of them, it'd certainly make it easier for him to come up with the rest to get MORE. (If he wants to) Or just keep it, go to Marguerita night and blow the whole stack on cheap tequila, chips and salsa, and cab rides home for everyone. *grin*

I also agree with whoever said to keep them limited edition. It makes them special. Like coming across a brand new, unused NOS Tron stick in a box. *please god, let that be next... please god, let that be next...*

Now the people who don't have them officially hate me. Sincerely, I'm not trying to be mean. I just think it sucks that people who DID pre-order are leaving him hanging when he had to pay up front to make them. I think, after that, he should take what's left and sell them to the highest bidder. They're worth it and so is the effort.

Some of them are going to be eBay'd.  Some are not.  Limited amounts of each.  I just gotta get my camera fixed so I can take some pictures.

While I'm at it...who wants a trackball?  See my .sig for details.

Yeah, yeah...now how about a picture of the buttons on one of those awful cabinets of yours?

Sorry dude, these will have to wait till I get a chance to do a new cabinet up for myself.  Next project, turns out, is going to be a cocktail cab.  Can't get 4 players around a cocktail cab too easy!  (hmm... then again) ;)

I just checked your site.  While I'm disappointed that you're not doing a conversion of either the SI or the other cab (which name escapes me @ the mo) a scratch built cab will be cool, esp a cocktail.
