Help about resolution
« on: December 20, 2018, 08:27:31 am »
Hello,
First i want to thank you Calamity for all your work.
i was using my mamecab with an arcadevga but it wasn't very "pixel perfect"

now i can see clearly the pixels i do love so much !!
I followed http://geedorah.com/eiusdemmodi/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1052#p1052 and drivers are well installed (with drivers for non GCN cards)
Win7 64bits, Msi hd 5450 with atom15 bios modified on a crt TV and vga cable to jpac and then a jamma2scart card, and used super resolution, as the guide shows.
i have used the "arcade 15" as choice, not crt 50hz
windows is in 640*480

On few games , resolutions are not as expected.
Is there something i'm doing wrong ?
on mame.ini in groovymame (the latest version) i have just modified to "resolution : 2560x0"
nothing else.
Thank you seeing attached pics.

All look good to me...

Remember, you're using super resolutions for the horizontal so 2560 / 320 = 8 so you've got nice integer scaling there (i.e. no visible difference between 2560 or 320, just 8 dots to represent 1 instead). The reason for doing things this way is to improve horizontal sizing and centering since the modeline engine has more granularity to work with.

For the vertical, 224 lines fits into 240 lines and just pads out the extras with blanks. Again, in this case, there's no visual difference between using 240 or 224 lines for 224 line games. You could create a 2560 x 224 modeline if the number mess with your OCD but it'll make zero visual difference.

I'd say you're all good. :)

hello,
thank you answering :) and i'm very happy to read your answer about integer scaling, it's my goal

i found somewhere an advise to add another super resolution :
2560 x 224 @ 60.000000 super

and i have a better integer scaling now.

Those kids should scale up to adults quite well
