--- Quote from: bobbyb13 on January 28, 2022, 12:30:26 am ---I love this for various reasons --- End quote --- I think I understand your reasons bobby, it's just called 'CRT love' :D --- Quote from: Zebidee on January 28, 2022, 04:27:22 am ---Awesome work Ond. Now all you need is 1.21 gigawatts of power and it will live! Muahahahahahahahaha! Love the way you install the donk... errr, tube. --- End quote --- Heh, yeah that's it, great movie the original Frankenstein. --- Quote from: Zakk on January 28, 2022, 10:44:55 pm ---Subbed (High Caliber). I always figured you used witchcraft or wizardry to make your cabinets all these years... How shocked as I to see a dremel! ;) --- End quote --- Thanks Zakk, I appreciate the subb, yes busting myths with my videos, it turns out my work is 99.9% obsessiveness and 0.1% wizardry. Look, its the worlds ugliest cocktail cab, no it isn't it's my CRT workstation in use! |

so, it looks like this combo is doing the trick? "CRT Emudriver 2.0 and a Retrotek VGACTV1 VGA to Component transcoder" |

"CRT Emudriver 2.0 and a Retrotek VGACTV1 VGA to Component transcoder" --- End quote --- That was my original setup and it worked well. The Retrotek transcoder developed a fault in one of the color channels and I ended up replacing it with the superior GreenAntz transcoder (see the pic below). Since you mention it, I've found the following make for a 'winning combo' using CRTs in an emulation system that uses component in. - Good understanding of how GroovyMAME & CRT Emudriver 2.0 work together - Quality VGA-Component Transcoder i.e. GreenAntz - Reasonable quality CRT TV with component in - access to the service menu on the TV to set scan geometry - some knowledge of convergence and purity adjustments via yoke controls (if needed) RGB modding is the next level up for high quality builds using a CRT TV but the differences in quality seem minimal. |

Nice fit. --- End quote --- Thanks wp34, I'm looking forward to fitting the glass and inner bezel so the whole thing looks properly integrated. It's my "icing on the cake" for this project. These bolt holes in the side panels ... ... are history. Side & control panels have been sanded and refined with bondo/filler (all pits, holes gaps etc) and coated with high-build primer. The yellow high build primer is a great undercoat for the rich yellow paint work to come I think. Most of the panels have been coated in high-build primer now. The rough, porous MDF is transformed into a tougher material with clean edges. |
