Sweet find - starting to gather parts
« on: November 17, 2018, 01:52:02 pm »
I took my wife on a Saturday morning date to the Pick and Pull. She figures if she has to have a game room instead of a formal dining room, she gets to approve the style.

Here's what we came home with, from a Hyundai Sonata. My wife is showing it off in the picture. Now to do a thorough steam cleaning, and start designing my rig. Oh yeah, and keep plugging away at the hyperspin setup and all that fun stuff.

Um...  It looks like that seat is mounted to an axle with wheels.  Or am I just seeing weird?

Hah, that's just the wheelbarrow we got from the junkyard to get it up to the cashier and then out to my truck. It would be a pretty long walk carrying that seat plus my tools back to the front!

The seat is pretty standard, manually adjusted (which all works), mounted with 4 simple bolts.

Much more comfy than a hard plastic arcade seat.
I miss wandering around a junkyard thinking of what all could be built out of parts found there.

It's awesome you have a wife that will go along.

Trick to that is buying the passenger seat,  typically in better shape than a drivers side   seatbelt buckle is is usually bolted to the frame and seat controls being on the right instead of the left isn't a big deal.
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

+1

I have a couple mounted on my setups, on the original rails so they're nice and adjustable.

Yup have done this before aswell.

I always found coupes or sports cars had the best seats that suit a rig and if your lucky a euro sports car with a factory recaro or similar in black leather, ie audi, bmw and merc. If you dont have much of that at your wrecker then Japanese cars like Subaru WRX and Mitsubishi Evos have nice factory seats.

Cheers

I'm thinking of getting rid of mine.  It's comfy, but it's also super heavy.

I actually have a seat from a late-model Honda Prelude, and it's not the most comfortable thing. I also have a seat from an older Ford hatch, mb a Laser, and it's much nicer to actually sit in.
