  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Audio, video setting and dual monitors
« on: November 17, 2018, 08:57:02 am »
Hi guys, I have a couple of questions. I hope you don't mind.

1. Lots of games have audio problems, whereas I think this is probably down to the rom or MAME, is there anything I can do to improve it? I have found things about ASIO but seems outdated. I have also come across this (use google translate), but not sure if it is still recommended today. https://www.arcade-tutorials.de/tutorials/update-groovymame-mit-portaudio-implementierung

2. Under OSD VIDEO OPTIONS, many people recommended to use "video d3d9ex". Mine is "video auto" and when I changed it to "video d3d9ex", nothing worked. I assume that this is no longer needs changing?

3. If I want to use two monitors, one physically rotated vertically and another placed horizontally... if all of my VMM settings are set to horizontal, can I just use the vertical.ini to make all vertical games display vertically (then I can use a VGA switch to use the vertical monitor). Currently, every time I want to switch from the horizontal to vertical monitor I am having to change all VMM settings which is a pain. I have seen Calamity's post here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=135121.0 but will GM detect if a horizontal or vertical game is launched and output the correct orientation for each individual game? A bit confused :)

Cheers guys!
