Makvision D2929 pending failure
« on: November 16, 2018, 08:44:20 am »
My D2929 monitor is has started occasionally making a tick noise and the screen starts to vertically collapse then snaps back full size.

Is recapping the monitor the best place to start?

Horizontally. It was purchased new from Happ back in 2011 and has seen moderate usage since then. Not sure if it's significant or not, but for most of that usage the brightness was turned up pretty high because it was behind tinted acrylic.

i would look for bad solder joints, it could be a failing vertical deflection ic or a dodgy cap in the vertical or psu circuit
