JVL Intouch6 File System Corruption
AtariJeff:
I'm working on a JVL Intouch6 for a friend of mine. At first it would not boot but I think I fixed it by reseating the IDE CF board. It seemed to boot OK but if you tried to power up a day later it would complain about corrupt file system. It would rebuild OK but do it again the next day. I replaced the 128MB CF card with a 256MB I had around but then it would say that the CD-ROM cannot be read. Replaced the CD -ROM drive, same error. CD read OK in a PC so I put the original CF card in and it boots OK again but same issue with the corrupt file system. The CF card seems to format fine with a card reader on a PC. Should I replace the CF card?

Since you didn't post any pictures or the exact error message you're getting, I'm only speculating, but it sounds like the filesystem that's corrupt is the one stored on the ioboard memory. Sounds like the ioboard battery needs replaced.
AtariJeff:
Thanks. I'll grab a pic of the screen tonight and look at that battery.
mahkeymike:
That battery is not easily replaced, it's also not a standard 3v computer battery. Its a 1/2 size AA lithium battery and it should read 3.6v. Anything less and its going to cause problems.
AtariJeff:
Here is the error
