Thanks everyone.

I'm getting on with it now.  Control panel wiring....

To be honest, the biggest slowdown has been deciding on a graphic for the front.  Any ideas, suggestions would be much appreciated.  Any help getting something slightly original via photoshop would be even more appreciated (1000mm x 365mm).  I've been stuck on this for about 6 months!!!!

This is what the original looked like:

Paul.

Been a while in the waiting, glad to see your safe through this pandemic. Just seen your latest and happy that your progressing. Am in awe of your skills and your detailing.

Seriously a master at work. This is cool. Did you manage to change software issues with the letters. Will still be interested to see your work.

Just a quick question, how many albums have you got loaded? I have over 1500 but it gets so far and then from U (first letter of folder) onwards it will not load any tracks.

So.....I finally finished the jukebox.  ;D

Here is a short video of the final product.  Sorry about the delays...I had to engineer EVERYTHING from scratch with just the use of photos.  I don't log in much so I apologise if I missed your questions.  Onto the next project!!  GM

Absolutely astounding, I've been in awe at your workmanship throughout the whole build. Love your screen layout and was hoping you may want to share. I have built a few smaller units and adapted one of the original screens from DW. This serves for the smaller builds but I have a Ami Rowe R87 case totally gutted and was looking as a 42" or larger screen to fill the front void. I think your layout would be perfect.

Emphatic it is a old but free bit of software called DW Jukebox, it also gives the many options of changing the sounds hence the mechanical sounds of choosing the records.  Plenty of front ends for it but Greenmans is he's own creation and a very good one.

Damn this came out great!
The look of that string/epoxy work and the lighting is just fantastic.

REALLY makes me want to build one so hopefully I can find some management software that doesn't choke on my sizable CD collection like all the ones I have tried.

Good on ya!

Thanks everyone for your nice comments.  The software can handle unlimited songs.

So here is my challenge:

Build a full size jukebox and not only will I subscribe to your build and help you along the way, but I will also give you a copy of the software I use and help you to customise it for your build.  I really want to see some jukeboxes on here.  I mean, flight decks are fine, but where's the music?!

The GOOD thing about that is it gives plenty of time to come up with some outlandish cabinet design.

That Sunstar is cool.
After quite a bit of digging since you began on this journey yourself, I found that nothing screams arcade/pizzaparlor/dive bar to me like a Rock-Ola 454.

The biggest challenge will be sorting out a screen to use I think.

Is there an aspect ratio requirement that I should be shooting for?
I know that you found an unusually wide screen (which maybe un-obtanium where I live) and wondered if that was necessary to be able to use the software you have so graciously offered up.

Sorry Bobby, for some reason, I'm not getting email notifications when people post in this thread.  I'll have to sort that out.

Looks super cool!  Any screen will work, you just have to change the config files, the background image and the placement of each song card (I can help with this), however these look awesome, and proportionate with an ultra wide screen.

Looking forward to the build.

Paul.

I actually found a pair of original 454 speaker covers which were in decent shape and now in my posession so I am getting closer to go time here myself.

I also decided I really needed a router table so when I am finished with that I think I can finally start!

Sourcing a good set of speakers that won't cost more than the rest of the build is proving to be interesting though.

I love your front end and have been knocking up something similar, This will be housed in an old Ami Rowe R87 carcass with either as 42" or 50+" Screen.  I have one issue though I cannot change the now playing font (dot matrix) as I cannot see where the setting are to change this particular function. I have loaded replacement font (.ttf file) in both the parent folder, skins/font folder and added a line in the .skn file but i keep getting DM output???? Any notes on how this may be achieved?

Would love to see a build thread on that R87. I have an R85 Starlight that I'm trying to get working, but if I can't, it will be gutted and converted.

When I start I will put a thread onto the site. I have nothing apart from the carcass. I brought it from somebody who stripped the whole internals for another project. They even sold off the glass front so I will also need to deal with that.

I like it, I like it a lot  :applaud: :applaud:

I love your front end and have been knocking up something similar, This will be housed in an old Ami Rowe R87 carcass with either as 42" or 50+" Screen.  I have one issue though I cannot change the now playing font (dot matrix) as I cannot see where the setting are to change this particular function. I have loaded replacement font (.ttf file) in both the parent folder, skins/font folder and added a line in the .skn file but i keep getting DM output???? Any notes on how this may be achieved?

So I have worked out the Dot Matrix issue, found I was missing a bracket around the font settings, have sat and re modified the skin as I realised the numeric settings is limited to 100 or precisely 0-99 making the first skin having to be alpha numeric which would have to include "I" as there is no way that I can find to exclude it and it is to similar too "1" which may cause some issues in selections.

Very nice.  I must remember to upload my front-end next time I am playing the jukebox.

Well done Gazzer on the dot matrix issue.  I wondered why my chosen font didn't work.

Let's get building guys. I wanna see some new jukeboxes!!  You'll never regret making one of these.  I just love mine!!!

Off topic, but once I complete the slimline jukebox, I'm thinking of making a mechanical pinball machine from scratch.  :o
