Thanks Bobby.  They are very kind words.

I struggled to bend the ply so yeah, I went 3mm mdf but braced it with timber every 200mm to get the curve perfectly even.

I wasn't really interested in building a juke until I saw yours.

Do it!!!  This is my favourite project so far...and I've made quite a few.  Just wish I wasn't the first.  I had no one to copy.  :lol

First coat of epoxy done...

Going the extra mile to recreate the look of the original , I like it :)

I couldn't agree with Drnick more.

No idea what the material was on the original that created that rippled shadow effect on the back panel (or did you figure that out?) but no matter what the string and epoxy bit is brilliant.

Your fortitude on that detail alone is admirable.
Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools! I can fix it.

I know this build is taking a while, but I'm trying to stay productive....honest.

I freely admit my photoshop skills suck.  Anyway, here is the first draft of the translite for the control panel.  Obviously the buttons won't be printed as they will be real push buttons.  Light will shine from behind the translite to make it all stand out.  Again, first draft...not finished.

The toughest part of this build is not seeing the original jukebox in person.  I don't think one ever made it out to Australia.  I am having to work off low res google images and youtube videos.

I scrapped the original idea of the control panel with the VU's etc and decided to replicate the original as best as my skills allow...

I have about 8,000 songs now.  I make regular trips to the thrift shops (Salvo's etc.) and buy CD's for $1 each.  I actually managed to pick up an original AC/DC Albert Productions CD this way which I note someone has on ebay for $150.

Get the CD's while you can.  Once it's all on cloud, you no longer own the music.

Testing out the light strip with the colour lens added.

Looking forward to giving the whole thing a good undercoat and then start to get some paint on it.

A little more done.

I cut a hole.

I used the router.

Perspex fits.

This is the colour.  I will diffuse the light coming through the hole with some lightbox perspex on the inside.

So the job I was dreading and putting off only took an hour or two and was fairly straight forward.  Onward and upward.

Thank you matsadona.  That's very kind.

I think I need a better program to alter the size of the images.  This one gives really poor image quality (Everything is actually square).  Anyway.....

All sanded, and ready for some paint...

The two ends of the grill have been grinder back 12mm to accomodate the polished aluminium edging.  She should look a bit different with her colours on.

Monitor mounts are in.  I have also ordered the toughened glass for the front and top as well as the clear and opal perspex for the control panel.  Just touching up the graphics for the front translite.  Oh, and I had to order some square buttons to go with the rectangle ones as the original plan was to just use rectangle.

Anyway....onward and upward.

Looking really good.  Do you have any detail on how you got from a bunch of strings to that final product?!  I'm not clear on how that happened!

Thanks guys for your generous comments.  It is certainly helping me stay motivated on this project.

lots of sanding and painting.

I'm hoping to have this looking like a jukebox in the coming weeks.

The main paintwork has begun.

Incredible work! we have 12 yep 12 and just got a 1971 Seeburg USC1 like your doing. Mine has a broken glass on the top right and was wondering if it was possible to get a copy of the beautiful template you built.  Would be a lot cheaper for me to get a piece of glass and then have that printed on some type of plastic. Thanks and again GREAT WORK!

Control panel is coming together.  Not an exact replica, however that is not really the intention.  The buttons on the right will be for volume control, random play and to scroll through the various pages of songs.

And this is with the control panel backlight on....

A little more progress.  Side trim is on, working on fitting the trim around the control panel and i've hooked up the LED lights in the switches.  A bit rough at the moment but a work in progress.   :)

I love the whole concept.  :applaud: I have an Ami Rowe R87 Case no guts, and whilst looking for ideas come across one of the best authentic jukeboxes in yours. I have found DW Jukebox but love the look of your front end, is this your own concept or is it a obtainable download. Can you make available of help where I can edit? I need to put a 42” screen in to fill the hole so really need to be able to make DW fill the screen.

Just new to this forum so thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone.

I'm getting on with it now.  Control panel wiring....

To be honest, the biggest slowdown has been deciding on a graphic for the front.  Any ideas, suggestions would be much appreciated.  Any help getting something slightly original via photoshop would be even more appreciated (1000mm x 365mm).  I've been stuck on this for about 6 months!!!!

This is what the original looked like:
