Hi all, been in a bit of cabaret building mode lately and I was wondering if I can get some advice before I actually build this idea of mine.
With 720 prices going out of control, I wanted to see if I could build a 720 mame cabaret in the style of what Atari might have built back in the day. Like in the form of an Irish Dig Dug (widened a little bit for a horizontal monitor). I know the Missile Command or Battle Zone have horizontal monitors but they both make it feel like you are looking into a claustrophobic tunnel.
The other nice thing about building cabarets from scratch is that they don't have all the expensive specialized parts that the full System II pedestal uprights have.
My main concern is that the circular path that the angled joystick takes may be too big for the footprint of the control panel to be comfortably used. I think the depth of the Euro Dig Dug panel is 7 inches to the class. I've watched as many Youtube videos of people playing 720, spinning the joystick but I haven't played the game on a real machine since I was a teenager so I'm not sure if this would work and how much real estate one would really need.
Thanks for replying.
