Thanks!
It's going to have a Dell Optiplex something or other, with an i7, micro PC.
I will be doing Linux based this time. My previous arcade was windows with GameEX. I've been playing with EmulationStation and been pleased with the responsiveness and ability to traverse thousands of games. I'm also extremely versed in both operating systems and pretty happy with Linux's "appliance" type feel. I'll be doing many games local, but with autofs mounting the big stuff off the NAS in my house.
The speakers I'm cautiously optimistic about - I played them with the amp just free air (they are self boxed) and was really surprised and impressed with them. They sounded better than the ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- 2.1 setup in my old arcade - and I had no issues with that setup either.
I think I'll be okay on the audio department. I've left myself plenty of room if I need to swap out in the future though - well for 3" drivers and under I guess.
Appreciate the thoughts. Going to hit the glue up tomorrow, then start thinking about paint.
My plan after some reading,
50/50 PVA/Water mix
Sand
High build primer
Sand
Sand
Krylon Semi-Flat black
Done, Apply decals, inlays, and marquee
My old cabinet used a water based primer, then rolled on rustoleum. I was really happy with the durability, though the finish was close but not as good as spray.
I may be missing some good threads. Still reading. Any suggestions are welcome! Semi-Flat black is going to be the whole cabinet.
