PS4 Firmware 5.53 Causing System Failure
« on: October 05, 2018, 08:18:48 am »
Has anyone had problems with thier PS4 bricking after installation of firmware 5.53?  Mine did this and I thought the problem was solved with 6.00 until it bricked again yesterday.  Wondering if my hard drive is failing.  Can't imagine it would after only 2 years of intermediate use...I am going to pull out the drive and test it this weekend to see if I have a hardware issue.  Just putting out feelers to see if anyone else had this issue.

What do you mean by bricked?

As my definition of bricked is unfixable paper weight!

My first PS4 would glitch out and crash whenever I played Bloodborne or got on the little helicopter in Far Cry 4.  I made up a fake invoice from Amazon and sent it in for a warranty repair.  Been fine for years afterwards (and they did actually repair it.... was hoping for a replacement but oh well).

Better?

Not really still the same on my phone :p

My HDD has never failed in my PS4 and its had pretty heavy use since I got it however many years ago.

It is getting noisy however so may well fail soon....

However like I said depending on what you mean by bricked it could be a few things.

Have you noticed the fans kicking in or working harder than normal?
Overheating is a pretty common cause of problems and if lucky can be fixed by a good clean and hoovering.

Failing that its a re-ball.

...fixed by a good clean and hoovering.

What good would cleaning it, putting a bug inside and then making it cross dress do?

You said hoovering it.  It was a play on words.  You meant vacuuming and I skewed it and referenced J Edgar Hoover who was the head of the FBI from '24 to '72.  He allegedly used to cross dress and bug everyone of any significance to get the goods on them and use it as leverage.
