Rowe R-86 vinyl jukebox problems
« on: April 28, 2019, 05:26:32 pm »
I have a Rowe R-86 I bought non-working.

Problem A) It started with a problem where it would lock everything on except the magazine motor. I reflowed solder on all connectors and that did not fix it. I spent a lot of money to replace the CPU (or whatever the big chip is called on the main board... I forget) with the reproduction replacement board which was about $65 and that did not fix it. Do I start going through the RAM chips?

Problem B) Before I put it in storage the amp somehow shorted to maximum. Somebody said this might be a bad transistor or something but I would like fresh information. They basically said on these amps if there is a short it will oddly result in maximum volume. It is difficult to troubleshoot as it is very annoying and disturbing to others... this jukebox gets LOUD.

It's been in storage for a few months so I'm a little dusty on the terms and what I've done and didn't do and before I pull it out again I want to see if anybody has any good ideas, otherwise I'll just leave it in there for a while.

I am fluent in circuit board repair and DO NOT want to send it out for repair... looking for technical guidance, but I can do the work myself. Thank you!
