I'm purposely using an older version of MAME 2003 / .78 Set on my Raspberry Pi which requires less power / better compatibility with the various roms. However some of the games require SAMPLES / Sounds.

I noticed a few games as an example:
Donkey Kong, no jump sounds when in-game...
Galaga, no ship exploding noise if killed..
Space Invaders ... no noises / thump sound / no fire sound etc

Other games with sound issues:
Donkey Kong Jr.
Space Panic
Tank Batallion
Zaxxon

I found a sample pack / individual downloads here: http://samples.mameworld.info/
I downloaded older samples / newer samples.

I loaded them into my "sample" folder within where I place my MAME Roms, I'm using libretro 2003 for majority of my games as the emulator with a MAME .78 set for the most part. I still have NO SOUNDS. Where are they supposed to be placed I'd probably be able to fix lots of games once I know where the proper directory folder / or how to point it to that sample folder ? because I'm using libretro 2003 MAME I know RetroArch typically takes over certain stuff, not sure if that has anything to do with pointing it to the proper location of the samples. I'm NOT using emulation station but rather ATTRACT MODE.
