Can't install crt_emudriver 2 (GPU not detected/unknown)

I've been trying to install crt-emudriver 2 for my AMD R7 but I'm stuck in a situation where after uninstalling the regular AMD driver, the GPU is not detected at all anymore (labelled unknown gpu in W7 hardware manager)

Running emudriver's setup nothing shows in the list, not even a VGA fallback mode.
If I start my PC up with the R7 powered up (connected to ATX) I get no picture at all since no driver is installed of course.
So I disconnect it and restart so the system can fall back to the Intel iGPU and I can see and use the desktop.
Reconnecting the R7 after I get to the desktop doesn't work, doesn't prompt a 'new hardware detected' either.

Is there a way to install crt_emudriver without using the Setup.exe you provide ?
Like through the windows hardware manager (install/upate driver feature and point at the folder or a particular file) -> will it work, is it safe ?

You can install it through the hardware manager, but better use the provided Setup.exe. If this is not working, there's something else going on. Make sure you're using the right package, there's one specific for gcn cards (your case).

Didn't work...Windows can't find the driver. Yup I've got the GCN one.

I don't remember the way I've installed that GPU the first time but it was either though the windows manager or by installing the regular AMD driver before connecting the GPU if that's any doable, but I believe it was the former.

Maybe my particular R7 is a pain...dunno.

Post your card's pci id, just to make sure it's not an odd one or it's incorrectly branded.

Can you check if dev 6658 is listed driver's inf? (I'm out now)

Some 6658 are listed but not mine exactly (matches only up to SUBSYS_)

Yeah, it's included, it should be detected without problems. It has to be something about the device not be reported correctly by the os. It's either disabled (try enabling it from device manager), or it's disabled by the motherboard (check bios), or there's some extra driver needed by the motherboard itself. You should be able to install regular AMD driver at least.

It's enabled according to windows just not identified, as for the bios I've thought of it unfortunately restarting the computer with the R7 powered; I don't get any picture at all so I cannot do anything.

I'll try to install a regular AMD driver again to check if it works and update the thread to let you know (well it did work before I uninstalled it lol)

OK so I was about to resume my quest, this time trying to install regular AMD drivers, but for a reason unknown to me this morning when I turned my computer on with the R7 connected to power, it was running in VGA fallback compatibility mode (finally!)

I could therefore proceed to install crt-emudriver with no issues.

It's puzzling why the R7 couldn't be identified and working as it should yesterday, and why it's fine today why I haven't touched anything since, I have no explanation.
