I've already spent a good deal of time researching this so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I've got a zero delay usb encoder hooked up to a basic happ joystick and button settup. Joystick and buttons are recognized and work fine with Mame. Buttons are detected fine with Daphne, but I can't get daphne to recognize any of the joystick movements. Keyboard arrow keys for Daphne work fine.
I have other USB devices plugged in such as my mouse and keyboard, but other than that it's just the USB joystick (via zero delay encoder).
I downloaded Controller Companion through Steam, although it also works as a stand alone application. It doesn't seem to recognize the controller. I thought this software would help me translate the joystick movements into keyboard keys which I could then use for Daphne, but I can't get this to work either.
Someday I'll build a cabinet with a proper encoder, but right now I just want to get Daphne working enough to see if my kids will be into it. I've been through old forum posts here and elsewhere, but I'm not having much luck. Thanks if you can help!
Edit: Here's the encoder:
