Nintendo vs gumshoe ppu problem

Does anyone know if i can use a different ppu in this game. It is the RC2C05-03 and i havent been able to find replacements anywhere. I seen on johns arcade site that mighty bomber jack had a hack that would allow a  rc2c04 ppu which is more of a generic one
 Anybody know bout that?
