I started with some cabinet made of scaffolding wood, but that just didn't feel "authentic" enough. Than, after some good advice, I made my "own" cabinet design in Sketchup, based on the Galaga cabinet, but adjusted to become more slim. The theme back then was
The Dutch, but that was just too... eehm... orange.
I am still going with that design though, but decided on some retro side-art and eventually some more quality stuff (controls, etc.).
Cabinet design:
I added the SKP's and side art files (without the design) of the most panels below. Please bear in mind that the 90 degree corners of the side panels aren't exactly 90 degrees (made a small miscalculation) and the height might be not your personal preference (I also added about an inch (3 cm) at the bottom as I wanted to use leds below the cab).
I asked a former colleague (art director at my former job) to design some retro art and it turned out pretty well (I did the button layout on the control panel myself):
Marquee (not decided on the name of the cabinet yet):
Control panel (one service button that works as a shift button and two player buttons):
Side art and kick panel:
I have printed the side panels on A3 paper and taped it together so I could stencil it on MDF. Now I have to start with the real woodwork (everything is cut to measure though, except the side panels).
