My first Arcade Cabinet
« on: December 16, 2018, 05:03:54 pm »
Hi Folks,

Finally... after a decade of dreaming about building my own arcade cabinet, I finally picked up a copy of John St. Clair's book and dived in. It took my son and I about two months, but our LuSid cabinet is done ;D.

Since I used this forum to get get some much needed background and direction, it was time to pay it forward. I posted photos and video of the build at this link (start-to-finish): . The video includes some photos of techniques that weren't exactly clear to me on the first read of John's excellent book.  Hope it helps someone who is just getting started. Cheers.

Kudos to you and your son for building a nice classic design together. Looks good!

Killer job on the cab. Quite ambitious and very well executed.

Best moments with my father was when we were building things, combining our hairbrained ideas into something possible... This is what it's all about IMO. My only regret is no longer having any of our projects to enjoy now... You two have that, and it's something you can still enjoy moving forward. Makes me feel good about the world for a change ;)

That’s very kind- thanks! Similarly, I am hoping my son remembers this experience. I must admit, it was a bit challenging given how long it took us to complete— he couldn’t wait, yet I really wanted us to take our time and do it right. In the end, I think he appreciated the results a little more. Anyway, I appreciate your words and thoughts. It was wonderful having this opportunity and being able to share.

Funny you should ask - I'm looking into building one of those Star Wars Yokes- can't seem to find one online to purchase, so I'm back in the forum looking for what others have managed.
