shipping charge: does this seem right?

How many emails did you send him, eightbit?  If it was one, then you can assume it was lost somewhere.  It happens quite frequently, esp these days with rampant email viruses running about.

As for Bob's business practices, this isn't his mainline, although it keeps him busy.  He's a retired operator, and does this because he enjoys it.  His prices are quite reasonable (because of his 'discounted' shipping more likely than not) and he almost always tosses in something for free.

2 Happ Super Joysticks Black
1 Happ Ultimate Joys 4-way Red
1 Happ Microswitch PBs Pair Player 1 & 2
21 Happ Microswitch Pushbuttons

Shipping was
USPS Priority - $8.90
Now granted you have to send him a money order, but I ordered something 12/15 of last year, sent him a MO the next day and had the stuff by 12/25.  Can not beat that with a stick.

I tried to order from Bob but he never replied to my email, also his prices on some things were slightly higher than Happs but nothing I ordered was significantly more or less. I gave up on bob and placed an order with happs and had it in 2 days. It was $5.50 in shipping with tracking and insurance. I don't know if Bob insures and tracks everything but its definately worth the extra cost.

From everything I've heard Bob he is an incredible help and can provide parts that are hard to find elsewhere its just that he needs to update his site and offer a more convenient faster way to pay. He also needs to reply to emails.

If you read Bob's site he explains why he doesnt take other forms of payment.  Basically he would have to charge extra for paypal and then worry about getting dicked around by them like so many people do.  Also he cant really do CC payments becuase they are to expensive for a ma and pop type thing (they charge you every time you run a CC and for just having a machine/service).  Really check/MO is the fastest way to go maybe a little pain to get a MO made but shipping is dirt cheap with him and he is a great guy to deal with.

Also email wise he has always responded and very quickly within like 12 hours.

Alright - $19 suddenly seems pretty reasonable.  I guess I've just got to spend more next time...

I'm in Naperville also.

Great, I was hoping there were some fellow people from Illinois, I finally ordered all the last things I need to start building my first cabinet. It will be a two piece kinda like Frosty's with a laminate base and baltic birch ply for the top, why baltic birch? Cause it routes and rounds perfectly, kinda like the school desks we had when were kids, with the multi layers. I'm using a NEC 21'' monitor to keep it simple and for the CP, 2 ball top T-Stick pluses with 7 button each and a 3" Happ translucent track ball in the center kinda like Thejohn's Centipide cabinet and a Happs coin door for the credits. I sent Frosty my artwork I drew up, he's a hell of a guy, and he's putting it all to the computer so I can have it printed, ROBO MAME hahah. The  Building and wiring the cabinet should be no biggie, I've built most the stuff in my house, just finished a huge media wall in my basement "theater". What I'll need help with, and I might PM you fellow Illiniosians is with configuring of my computer to run MAME. You see, I'm doing this backwards, where most people having been playing with MAME on thier home computer and then decide to build a cabinet, I have never played MAME as of yet. Pretty stupid, huh? I can't help it but I love to build stuff. It all started with looking for a used Galaga cabinet on ebay. Hope you guys don't mind be buggin you a little in the future, Thanks in advance and you gotta love this board!!
