So, I'm currently idling in a church parking lot because it's high ground and the roads are under two feet of water. I've already floated once, so imma sit here in my car in drenched clothes surrounded by drenched groceries, watching cars drive in circles. I'm not sure a bigger contrast in 24 hours is even possible. |

I was genuinely surprised at how easily conversation flowed with people I had only known online. The venue was nice, Phoenix/Mesa is a remarkably easy city to navigate. The folks from the forum went way out of their way to accommodate out of town guests and keep us entertained. Favorite part of the show was being able to stumble around the arcade and constantly find something different to play. Flashback to the "giant" arcades of my childhood (I'm sure they were much smaller in reality). Highly recommend getting an Airbnb across the street like we did - it was nice to get an occasional break. It's apparently impossible to buy too many chicken wings and steaks if your guests are BYOAC members. Playing Shark Santa on a Vectrex on a porch while sipping my cider might qualify as the nerdiest thing I've ever done. |
