Help me ID this.. LMAO
« on: June 06, 2018, 10:01:23 am »
Be forewarned, this WILL be a waste of your time! If time is of value to you stop reading now.

We all have a buddy that finds pleasure in torturing friends, this is a perfect example of that. A little back story, so you have an idea of what I am working with here. He bought an old car a few years back and decided to sell it. I never seen it but was interested. I asked for pics and received a photo every couple of days. Like he was holding it hostage and these pics were proof-of-life. The pics were ALL close ups of stuff like a single lug nut, key lock, lower right corner of the grill logo, an oil spot on the floor  :banghead:

So he calls me last Tuesday (29th), all excited (which could be part of the game) telling me about his trip to the other coast (Florida) and he went to a antique junk shop and bought me a present.. but.. won't tell me what it is.. grrrr

He is the type of person that will spend a bunch of money just to screw with someone. That said this item could have been $1 or $500, lol..

Verbal clues have been:
He "hauled" across the state for me (pickup truck)
He used the word "console" but then said he needed help loading and unloading it?!?!
Said "You don't have one of these!"  (makes me think cocktail cab, cause I don't have one)
added: He said "and if you cant get it working you will put something else in it"

So the hook is now firmly set in my cheek.. I asked for a pic and should have known better. See attached.. I will post any followups,  :laugh2:

Neo Geo maybe?
That's the second place my mind went when I seen the red color. First was thinking it was a Red Tent but they have stainless coin area and red plastic.. It could be a painted mess tho too, who knows, lol.

I can't find a coin door/slot/return that has a Clear Plastic, Grey/White Text & Red Door on anything with google..

Additional INFO/Clues:
I forgot another thing he said "and if you cant get it working you will put something else in it" (added to post#1)

That is a good possibility, I haven't seen all that many other then the random Craigslist/eBay ad. Most came with just bill validators though didn't they?

Claw Machine.
That would be pretty cool!

And if that is it, is a claw machine capable of pickin up mini bags of chips or will they just slip through the pinchers? We don't eat chips & cookies but our nieces and nephews do. Maybe rubber for the tips? :lol

Ok, new pic and he might have slipped. I tried to bribe him to drive over for a home cooked meal. One of his favorites the wife makes. His reply was "Damn, this might be the best 2$ I ever spent!" but he couldn't come yesterday b/c he had plans to take out his GF. He is 55+, divorced about 6 years ago and living like a 20 year old again (translation: He's Free).

So that said, was all the other verbal clues BS or was this "$2" BS? I cant see anything costing $2 anymore let alone a cab of any kind, but the pics got to be a Coin Return & a Red Ball-top. Either way 2$ or 200$, cocktail cabinet or bag full of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, its still a good laugh.

I am starting to question my friendship with this person though  :laugh2:

They are like gambling machines.  Gripping well enough to pick up something is a random occurrence that only happens as often as you set the machine to do it.
This is why I dislike them.  Skill is irrelevant unless you happen to be playing when the machine decides to "pay off".

---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, lol.. I think you're right! That is the only thing I have seen with red around the coin area & that pic is just blurry enough to not be able to read "ion". If you are correct, how the ---fudgesicle--- did you get that? An iPad in it would be nice but I'm not holding my breath  ;D

I was getting all excited, what a turd he is. Its been a ---smurfy--- couple weeks and this distraction helped. I do want a cocktail cabinet now though  :banghead:

Its basically just a Bluetooth controller, right? I can set that up for the kids to beat to death (which by the looks of it might not take long).

The worst part is that these aren't even functional as intended any more. So it's just a shell with a zippy joystick, and some buttons...

I still haven't told him I (JD) have an idea of what it is. I am enjoying the game still but maybe not as much, lol.. Waiting on more pics, if it is the iCade he will run out of things to take pictures of shortly, its only 10" tall! :lol

This is a fun game, torture is always fun. Maybe someone can start a new thread (or just carry on here after this is over) just to create a time suck for us, lol.

Been to hooters like 3 or 4 times.  Big MEH.
Food was mediocre and something went horribly wrong with the service every time.  Like my fork was covered in baked on food or people in our party never got their food wrong.
Met a couple former waitresses at different times.
Both complained about being propositioned by truckers, so I guess that is a regular occurrence there.

The closest one to me closed and was replaced by a Red Robin.  Good upgrade IMO.

Twin Peaks actually has good smoked wings.  Chula’s has signs outside warning you that face and neck tattoos are banned, which is nice.  Flying Saucer and Brick House Tavern are trying to pretend they didn’t used to be short skirts and thongs establishments.  Hooters.... meh.

Got my new pic today. Looks as though our resident Rain-Man was right. It's definitely, definitely an iCade.

I said to him "Your weak old ass would need help getting that thing loaded, did ya get me the iPad to go with it?" He started laughing, called me a MFer and said he will bring it by sometime this week :laugh2: Didn't have the heart to tell him I had an idea last week, I want him to do this again ;D

I have an old iPad somewhere, guess I'll have to find it.
