Ultimarc U-Trak - Help - think I've b****** up...

I've finally just got around to connecting up my control panel after having the components for over a year!

Good news is, they all work

Bad news is I think i've messed up with my U-Trak mounting... I've mounted it straight - with the main edge lines parallel to the top and the bottom of the control panel. The upshot of which appears to be that spinning straight up sends it at 45 degrees to the right and obviously the same for every other direction

Is there any way I can adjust for this in software?!
I really don't fancy having to re-drill my cp now that it's all screwed together, buttons connected and the vinyl is on...

(edit - something else i've spotted, tho not really an issue, is that the trackball is plugged into the trackball slots, but seems to appear under the Player 3 slots on WiniPac - is this normal)

When you say "main edge lines parallel to the top and the bottom of the CP"... It sounds like you're meaning the longest edges of the trackball housing... And if that's the case, you've mounted it wrong (45 degrees off). Ultimarc website has this drawing in their installation section:



Re-mount it. Lesson learned. Measure twice, cut once.

remount or risk really screwing it up and try to relocate the rollers/optics

Glue some short carriage bolts (shorter than your CP is thick) into the unused bolt holes, and I bet nobody will ever notice.

The holes are underneath - that's not an issue - it's the fact that my CP is effectively a closed unit due to the vinyl, so I can't easily re-drill

that diagram shows the holes are square, you should be able to rotate it without new holes.  If you screwed your CP shut and vinyl wrapped it............................. that was a design flaw, what was your plan when a microswitch failed or came unplugged?

I have fairly large holes underneath for servicing, but not where the trackball is

The holes are square but i'm 45 degrees off, if it were 90 it wouldnt be an issue

Yeah you've mounted it wrong. How is your control panel sealed? What were you planning on doing if something comes loose and needs to be replaced someday? I'd personally like to see a picture of how it's sealed. Maybe people would be able to help you with some more options if they could see a picture.

If you look closely on the U-Trak it has an arrow on it. The intent is that the arrow should point toward the monitor once it's mounted.

Crisis averted.
Managed to just about get my drill in and apart from VERY nearly screwing through the top of my panel due to forgetting a spacing washer I am now rotated correctly.
Still seems very slightly off but think that's just my use of the trackball!

My up and down are the wrong way around tho... seems that's a simple fix of swapping the wires but can't seem to get them out of the housing - is there a knack?

Swap the data wires for Y-Axis at the I-Pac plug.

There is a small lever arm holding each Dupont pin into the housing.

- Push the Dupont pin into the housing.
- Gently insert a straight-pin/probe/X-acto knife tip under the lever and lift it just enough to allow the Dupont pin to slide past.
- Pull out the Dupont pin.

Thanks mate would have taken me hours to find that vid without knowing the name of the connector!
