Recoil Solenoid Help
« on: May 21, 2018, 02:34:03 pm »
Hey everyone,

I have this recoil solenoid:
http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/96-4935-00 and I'm having trouble getting it to work.
I'm using this variable power supply: https://www.amazon.ca/LETOUR-Variable-Regulated-Adjustable-Alligator/dp/B01MZ0HDB3/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1524776278&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=variable+power+supply+10A&psc=1 and have tried various settings but get no reaction from the coil when I apply the power. I've gone up to the max 30v and 10 amp and still nothing.

When I measure resistance across the two terminals I see about 4 ohms in either direction (shouldn't it be unlimited when going in the wrong direction as the diode?) When I hop past the diode I see 3.8 ohms which isnt far off from the 3.6 I should be seeing across the coil.

Maybe worth mentioning: when I apply the power I see the voltage on the power supply drop, not sure if that's normal.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.
